What is the difference between physical and chemical exfoliation? What is best?

Hvad er forskellen på fysisk og kemisk eksfoliering? Hvad er bedst?

Exfoliation helps to remove all the dead skin cells and clean the pores, so that the skin is left clean and smooth – and at the same time more receptive to absorbing other skin care products.

The key to cleaner, smoother and glowing skin

Today there are both chemical and physical exfoliation. Both technically perform the same job – namely to remove dead skin cells, but in different ways.

Physical exfoliation

Physical exfoliation is e.g. our Exfoliating Face Scrub, which contains natural ingredients including coconut shells, which work on the surface of the skin and gently remove dead skin cells in the top layer of the skin, giving you instant baby-soft and smooth skin.

Physical exfoliation often has a reputation for being harsh on the skin, but that's wrong! If you are too rough with your exfoliation/scrubbing or e.g. choose a product that contains too large grains, it can instead scratch and damage the skin. But if, on the contrary, you choose a gentle and gentle exfoliation, and use it carefully in circular movements, it will simply leave the skin soft and smooth.

However, you should still be careful not to use too much exfoliation, as it can also irritate the skin, even though it is a gentle and gentle product. We recommend exfoliating the skin 1-2 times a week.

Chemical exfoliation

Chemical exfoliation, on the other hand, does not contain small grains, but active ingredients which dissolve the outermost skin cells and help the skin to regenerate and renew itself. Chemical exfoliation is found e.g. in Anti-Aging Lifting Serum.

Chemical exfoliation does not give an immediate result unlike physical exfoliation, but instead penetrates deeper into the skin, dissolving the dead skin cells while smoothing the skin.

When we talk about active ingredients, in this case we are talking about AHA and BHA.

AHA – alpha hydroxy acid, also called fruit acid, goes in and treats skin problems on the upper layers of the skin, such as sun damage, uneven texture and pigmentation.

BHA – beta hydroxy acid, also called salicylic acid, penetrates into the pores and provides a more in-depth peeling and treatment. Since BHA has an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect, it is perfectly suitable for those who suffer from acne, oily and impure skin.

It is advantageous to use a combination of both physical and chemical exfoliation in your daily skincare routine.
